A very rare dinar of Jalal al-Din 'Ali

ISLAMIC, Persia (Post-Seljuk). Ghurids (Bamiyan). Jalal al-Din 'Ali, AH 602-612 / AD 1206-1215. Dinar (Gold, 26 mm, 4.46 g, 12 h), mint effaced, date effaced. Citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Nasir li-din Allah (AH 575-622 / AD 1180-1225), ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl / Allāh al-Nāṣir / li-dīn Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. al-Nasir li-din Allah’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘huwa alladhi arsala rasūlahū bi al-hudā wa dīn al-ḥaqq liyuẓhirahū ʿalā al-dīn kullih’ (‘He it is Who sent his messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, so that He may make it overcome all religions’ in Arabic). Rev. ‘al-sulṭān al-aʿẓam / Jalāl al-Dunyā wa al-D/īn Abuʾl-Muẓaffar / ʿAlī ibn Sām’ (‘The supreme sultan Jalal al-Dunya wa al-Din Abuʾl-Muzaffar ʿAli son of Sam’ in Arabic); illegible mint and date formula around. Album V1806. Very rare. Areas of weakness, otherwise, about very fine.
